Mike Tice wins $100K on horse racing bet

He’s better at betting on horses than he is at coaching football.

US PRESSWIRE
Ricky O'Donnell
Ricky O'Donnell has covered basketball at all levels for more than a decade at SB Nation. He’s currently the Associate Director of Programming.

You may remember Mike Tice from his 15-year career as an NFL tight end, his four-year stint as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, or, most recently, his season spent as the Chicago Bears' offensive coordinator. But did you know Mike Tice is also an astute horsing racing fan savvy enough to take home over $100,000 by hitting a Pick Six at Del Mar Surfside Race Place in Southern California? Because, yeah, that happened.

If this seems like a story of an already very rich man lucking into a huge sum of money, that is mostly accurate. But perhaps there’s some small amount of justice in here, too.

Tice was fined $100,000 for selling his Super Bowl ticket in 2005. Now he's made that money back.

Still, it's unlikely Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will be sending him a congratulatory text message:
