Bears vs. Panthers 2013 final score: Cam Newton limited, Carolina beats Chicago, 24-17
The Carolina Panthers beat the Chicago Bears at home on Friday night, with Cam Newton tossing a touchdown in limited action.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler handed the Panthers a gift on his first pass of the game, throwing an interception at the Chicago 29-yard line in the opening minutes of the first quarter. Newton and the Carolina offense took five plays to go 18 yards, a drive capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass to receiver Brandon LaFell.
Newton was just 3 of 6 for 16 yards in the game, however, and quickly left in favor of backup Derek Anderson. The veteran quarterback was 8 for 15 for 133 yards and an interception as the Panthers overcame a brief 10-7 Bears lead to walk away with the 24-17 win in the first preseason game of the season for both teams.
For the Bears, Cutler was solid aside from the lone interception while rookie quarterback Matt Blanchard saw extensive action, going 15 for 18 for 194 yards and an interception. The Bears lost starting defensive tackle Henry Melton in the first half to a concussion.
