Winfield played 14 seasons in the NFL, spending time with the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. He struggled at times in the preseason and might not have earned a high spot in Seattle's star-studded secondary.

Every team in the NFL had to cut around 20 players on Saturday to reach the 6 p.m. ET deadline with their rosters at the regular season limit of 53 players. There were some big names among the cuts, and for breakdowns by team see SB Nation’s stream linked above.
Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey is "iffy" for the team's season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sep. 5. Bailey suffered a foot injury and was in a walking boot recently. It's unclear how far along he is in his recovery but there seems to be the possibility that he will miss the opener at this point.
The New York Jets seem poised to start rookie Geno Smith at the quarterback position for the season opener. Mark Sanchez is dealing with a shoulder injury on his throwing arm, but there are many who believe that the Jets were going to go with Smith regardless, even though Sanchez clearly outplayed him in the preseason.
Tim Tebow will always be a polarizing figure, but for the New England Patriots, he's simply an experiment that didn't pan out. Tebow was released as part of New England's roster cuts to get to the 53-man limit on Saturday. It's unclear if another team will be interested in his services at this point.
Rookie free agent wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers worked out for the Miami Dolphins on Friday. Rogers was released by the Buffalo Bills, who signed him as an undrafted free agent. He has multiple off-the-field issues to deal with, but clearly has a lot of NFL talent. It’s unclear how interested the Dolphins remain.
