Ryan Kerrigan cleared for Redskins practice after concussion exam

Washington got some good news on Tuesday with Ryan Kerrigan passing his concussion tests.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Washington linebacker Ryan Kerrigan passed tests for a possible concussion on Tuesday and was cleared to return to practice, according to Chris Russell of ESPN Radio 980. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Kerrigan could have practiced on Tuesday if it wasn't an off day.

Kerrigan left Monday night’s game against Philadelphia in the fourth quarter. He was taken to the locker room for further tests and during his postgame press conference, Shanahan said Kerrigan was still being evaluated. Kerrigan said he took a shot to the head, but was not diagnosed with a concussion.

“I’m feeling good. Ready to roll this week,” Kerrigan said, via Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.

Having Kerrigan active will be a big boost for Washington as it prepares to go on the road to face the Green Bay Packers. Kerrigan is arguably Washington's best defensive player. He racked up eight tackles, three quarterback hurries and a sack before leaving Monday's game. He also batted a pass at the line of scrimmage which resulted in a defensive touchdown for Washington.
