Giants will sign Brandon Jacobs, per report

Jacobs will reportedly re-join the team with which he’s spent the majority of his career, after working out for the Giants on Monday.

The New York Giants will reportedly bring a familiar face back to their backfield, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports. Jacobs was one of the running backs brought in for a workout Monday after starter David Wilson was benched in the team's season-opening loss.

Jacobs certainly isn't a stranger to fans in New York as he was a full-time starter for the Giants from 2007 through 2009, contributing heavily to the team's Super Bowl XLII victory. The 31-year-old running back signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2012 after playing his first seven seasons with the Giants, but ended up appearing in just two games for the eventual NFC champions before getting cut following an outburst on Instagram.

Jacobs appeared in 100 total games for the Giants, starting 48 while amassing 5,579 total yards and 60 touchdowns in his seven seasons with the team. He reportedly worked out with Willis McGahee and Joe McKnight on Monday before signing with New York.
