NFL picks and predictions, Week 2: Jets vs. Patriots

The Patriots are expected to roll on Thursday night.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots and New York Jets will square off at 8:25 p.m. ET on Thursday at Gillette Stadium in a key early AFC East showdown.

The last time these teams met, it was the infamous Mark Sanchez “buttfumble” game in which New England throttled New York for a 49-19 victory on Thanksgiving last year. Sanchez has since been benched and new starting QB Geno Smith is tasked with preventing another disaster. Smith’s off to a good start so far, leading the Jets on a game-winning field goal drive in last week’s 18-17 win over Tampa Bay.

Unfortunately for the Jets, however, the experts are still expecting the Patriots, despite plenty of injuries, to get the win.

At CBS Sports, all eight writers predict a New England victory, and it might not even be a close win. OddsShark.com shows that the Patriots are favored by 13 points (after the line opened at -10), which is the highest line of the entire week.
