Seahawks sign TE Kellen Davis, according to report

The Seahawks have reportedly brought another tight end on the roster, signing veteran free agent Kellen Davis.

USA TODAY Sports

The Seahawks have signed free-agent tight end Kellen Davis, according to Pro Football Talk. Financial terms have not been disclosed at this time.

Davis spent his entire five-year career with the Chicago Bears. Primarily a blocker, he caught just 47 passes in that time. Davis' best season came in 2011, when he recorded 18 catches for 206 yards and five touchdowns.

The Bears released him after the 2012 season, and he's been bouncing around since then. He signed with the Cleveland Browns in the spring, but was let go at final roster cuts. He worked out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week before signing with Seattle.

The Seahawks have been looking for tight end depth after losing Anthony McCoy to a torn Achilles. They also worked out Daniel Fells on Tuesday before deciding on Davis. He doesn't contribute in the passing game anymore, but he could serve a blocking role. The Seahawks also have Zach Miller and Luke Willson on the depth chart.
