Saints vs. Buccaneers 2013 odds: New Orleans favored on the road

The New Orleans Saints are favored to best the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in Week 2.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face-off in an NFC South rivalry game for their Week 2 matchup on Sunday.

The Saints are hoping to get a 2-0 start to their season and two-straight wins over divisional rivals, given that they bested Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. Tampa Bay, however, is 0-1 and hoping for a win after dropping a close one to the New York Jets in their opener. The Bucs were favored over the Jets, but Geno Smith made things happen in the end and the Bucs fell.

Accordingly, the Saints are favored to best the Bucs, despite Tampa Bay having the home-field advantage. New Orleans opened as 3-point favorites and the line has remained more or less the same throughout the week, with the Saints as high as 3.5-point favorites, according to OddsShark.

It’s likely the Saints would have been much bigger favorites if they were playing at home. Home-field advantage can account for three or four points, and sometimes more, so it seems like the Saints are figured to win by about a touchdown on a neutral field. The over/under for the game is set at 47 points, and given the offense of the Saints and the defense of the Bucs, the game could exceed that easily.
