Jets vs. Patriots 2013: Odds and lines for Thursday Night Football

The Patriots are big favorites over the Jets on Thursday night, despite the Pats’ struggles with the Bills’ in Week 1 and the Jets’ surprising win over the Buccaneers.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots are big favorites over the New York Jets for Thursday night's game -- favored by as many as 13 points, according to Odds Shark -- despite a tight win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

The line says a lot about an embattled Jets squad that is starting a rookie quarterback and is led by a head coach on the hot seat. The Jets were underdogs last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, however, and still managed to eke out a win. They'll be looking to beat the spread again when they travel to Gillette Stadium.

There isn't a lot of confidence on the Jets' side. The line has steadily grown since the Patriots opened the week as 10-point favorites. The movement does not appear to be tied to any injury news. Mark Sanchez, Jeremy Kerley and Quinton Coples were ruled out as expected, and no one else on the team is listed worse than probable. The Patriots' appear to have more injury issues, with Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski listed as doubtful, and eight other players listed as questionable.

The over/under is anywhere from 43 to 44 points, depending on the sports book. A 28-15 by the Patriots would roughly satisfy the line and the over/under. The Jets are 1-3 against the spread over the last two years against the Patriots. However, they have covered the last three times they have been tabbed as double-digit underdogs.
