Ed Reed injury: Texans S a game-time decision vs. Titans

The legendary safety celebrated his 35th birthday on Wednesday, but whether or not he’ll be available for his Houston Texans debut this Sunday remains up in the air.

Houston Texans safety Ed Reed is celebrating his 35th birthday this week, and he's very much acting his age. Reed continues to be hampered by a hip injury and will be a game-time decision for this Sunday's matchup against the Tennessee Titans, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

The injury, which plagued Reed for much of the offseason, kept the 12-year NFL veteran sidelined during Houston's season-opening win against the San Diego Chargers on Monday night.

Third-year man Shiloh Keo, who recorded three tackles against the Chargers, will get the start in Reed's place. Head coach Gary Kubiak stated that it is possible that Reed could come off the bench during Sunday's game, but it seems unlikely that the team would risk Reed's health if he is not ready enough to start.

Reed arrived in Houston this offseason after a legendary decade-plus career with the Baltimore Ravens, and he still possesses the skills to contribute for the Texans. Whether or not he can remain healthy at his advanced age, however, is an unanswered question.

His teammates had no trouble making light of the matter, buying him a prank gift to celebrate his Wednesday birthday.
