The New England Patriots will try to to start the season 2-0 in the AFC East, but injury issues could open the door for the New York Jets.
Jets vs. Patriots 2013 injury report: New England poised to miss 3 offensive weapons
The New England Patriots could be hurting on offense when they face the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.

Running back Shane Vereen underwent surgery earlier this week and was placed on injured reserve. He will be able to return later in the season but is the only player the Patriots are guaranteeing will be out this week. Vereen was instrumental in the Patriots' win last week, finishing with 101 rushing yards and 58 yards receiving. Stevan Ridley will play in his absence.
Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola are both listed as doubtful, making it unlikely Tom Brady will have two of his top receiving threats. Amendola had more than 100 receiving yards last week, but has a long-standing injury history and was limited this week due to a groin injury. A late report indicates that he could miss 2-6 weeks due to the injury, but he has not been ruled out at this time.
Here’s a full injury report for both teams.
