New England struck early on the back of a 39-yard touchdown pass to rookie Aaron Dobson, but the Patriots offense has dried up since that point. Tom Brady is visibly upset with his receivers because of costly drops and missed opportunities. It's rare to see Brady flustered, but the lack of help he's getting is noticeable. Entering the half he has completed 11 of 24 passes for 136 yards.
Rookie Geno Smith started strongly, but has had his fair share of troubles, also. Stephen Hill has dropped several passes and the Patriots' pass rush is warming up. Chandler Jones has sacked Smith on two occasions, but to Smith's credit, he's remained in the pocket and continued to throw while being hit.
The key for the Patriots in the second half is to ensure their receivers make plays. They need to get on the same page as Brady if they want to avoid an embarrassing loss.
New York needs Smith to get the ball out faster. He’s holding it too long in the pocket and the Jets’ offensive line isn’t good enough to support him.
