The Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals combined for just nine wins last season, a disappointing finish for two teams that entered 2012 with loftier expectations. Their latest shot at redemption comes this weekend as the two square off in a Week 2 matchup.

The Cardinals try to bounce back from a close loss to the Rams, while Detroit attempts to build momentum after downing the Vikings.

The Cardinals came up just short last weekend in St. Louis, blowing a 13-point fourth quarter lead as the Rams stormed back for a 27-24 win. Arizona still had several promising takeaways from the loss, however -- most significantly that the Carson Palmer-Larry Fitzgerald connection looks to be the real deal. The duo connected for two scores in their first regular season game together, possibly a foreshadowing Fitzgerald's return to elite-level production. Rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu also impressed, coming up with seven tackles and a game-changing forced fumble.
Despite a quiet day from Calvin Johnson (four receptions, 37 yards), the Lions took their first step to moving past their four-win 2012 season by downing the division rival Minnesota Vikings. After an initial 78-yard touchdown burst, they managed to keep Adrian Peterson in check, a promising sign for a defense that allowed over four yards per carry last a year ago.
