NFL inactive list, Lions vs. Cardinals 2013: Nick Fairley not playing Sunday

The Lions defensive tackle will sit out the game with a shoulder injury, while the Cardinals will have star receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

The Lions and Cardinals released their respective inactive lists for Sunday's game, and Detroit defensive tackle Nick Fairley will officially miss the game. The former first-round pick missed most of this week's practices with a shoulder injury and won't be able to follow up his excellent performance in Week 1.

The third-year lineman had 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery as Detroit beat Minnesota, 34-24. Fairley has struggled to live up to the hype since being selected by the Lions with the 13th overall pick out of Auburn in 2011, partially due to injuries. This will be the 10th career game missed by Fairley in barely more than two seasons.

Starting right tackle Jason Fox is also out for Detroit.

Meanwhile, Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) is active and will play against Detroit. The Cards' No. 1 receiver immediately looks more comfortable with the steady hand of Carson Palmer after years of rotating through QB's.
