Reggie Bush injury: Lions RB ‘not too concerned’ with knee issue

The Lions’ star running back Reggie Bush is set for an MRI on Monday.

Jennifer Hilderbrand-USA TODAY S

Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush was forced to sit on the sideline for most of the second half of Week 2's 25-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals due to a leg injury. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Bush is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to assess the left knee injury.

The former Saints and Dolphins running back was injured during the second quarter when Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson's helmet hit him in the knee during a 26-yard catch-and-run.

Bush returned to the game in the third quarter, but only played two snaps before leaving again. He fumbled on the second hand-off, blaming the injury for the error. According to Kyle Meinke of MLive Media Group, Bush said the injury made him “think too much.”

Head coach Jeff Schwartz told reporters after the game that Bush felt that he could not “explode” off the injured leg.

For what it is worth, Bush does not seemed worried about the injury.

“I’m not too concerned,” Bush said. “We’ll see how it goes tomorrow and take it one day at a time. I’m not too concerned, though. I think I’ll be all right and I’m going to do everything I can to get back on the field Sunday, even if I have to rehab 24 hours a day.”

Bush's injury status will likely be updated Monday following the MRI. The Lions will travel to Washington in Week 3 to take on the Redskins.
