Jaguars vs. Raiders 2013: Jacksonville in for ‘bad season’

Oakland took care of business against Jacksonville to earn its first win of the season.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland Raiders beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-9 on Sunday at the O.co Coliseum, moving their record to 1-1 while the Jaguars fell to 0-2.

Jacksonville has been struggling badly, scoring only 11 points combined in the first two weeks with Blaine Gabbert running the offense Week 1 and Chad Henne doing the same Week 2. The Jaguars were destroyed by the running game of Oakland, which picked up 226 yards on 6.6 yards per carry.

Over at Big Cat Country, Adam Stites writes candidly about the struggles Jacksonville is going through and will likely continue to go through this year:

Blaine Gabbert was bad in Week 1, Chad Henne was bad in Week 2 and there isn't any other quarterback on the roster that will magically fix the Jaguars any time soon. It's a bad team and this is going to be a bad season.

The Raiders have played well for two consecutive weeks, despite losing their opener 21-17 to the Indianapolis Colts. Thought by many to be the worst team in the NFL coming into the year, Oakland has shown legitimate signs of life behind quarterback Terrelle Pryor after he completed 15 of 24 passes for 126 yards in an economical showing.

Marcus Allen Krause talked about the other side of the ball however on Silver And Black Pride:

The defense, on the other hand, was swarming and aggressive in piling up 5 sacks. They had no turnovers but, if they keep playing like this, then don’t worry: the turnovers will come.
