Redskins vs. Packers 2013: Fans are happy in Green Bay, less so in Washington D.C.

Sunday’s game was disastrous for the Redskins. Aaron Rodgers and James Starks had huge performances for the Packers in a blowout win. Both fanbases reacted accordingly.

The much anticipated matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins quickly turned into a laugher. The Packers' offensive line turned in an excellent performance, paving the way for Packers' first 100-yard rusher in 44 games and giving Aaron Rodgers enough time to tie a franchise record with 480 passing yards. Green Bay led 31-0 in the third quarter before Washington was able to respond. The Redskins scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the score closer than perhaps it should have been.

Packers blog Acme Packing Company was very happy about the offense. Rodgers’ numbers speak for themselves, but he also had tremendous support from his line, wide receivers and an exemplary performance by forgotten running back James Starks. Evan “Tex” Western explained after the game that if there was a negative takeaway for the team, it was the lack of a pass rush:

For all the offensive awesomeness on display yesterday, the pass rush really disappointed me. Sure, the Redskins have a great left tackle in Trent Williams, but how does Clay Matthews not even really get a sniff of RG3 all day? On rare occasions, a blitz caused Griffin to rush a throw, (I’m thinking of the Brad Jones inside blitz and Davon House’s sack) but I don’t remember seeing a single play in the second half where he was under serious duress, nor did I see much pressure provided by a simple 3- or 4-man rush at any point.

Redskins fans wish that Washington’s problems were limited to one facet. UkRedskin1 at Redskins blog Hogs Haven broke the game down in full gory detail in his recap. Kevin Ewoldt may have summed up the game and the season so far best during his recap using gifs from the television show Game of Thrones.

The Redskins 2013 season if they lose to Detroit next week...
