Josh Gordon returns to Browns after 2 game suspension

The Cleveland wideout will return to the Browns after a two-game suspension just in time to help Brandon Weeden and a struggling offense.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Josh Gordon will be returning off suspension this week for the Cleveland Browns. The second-year wideout was suspended for the first two games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. His return to the Browns should spark a passing attack that has been shaky to start the season.

Gordon is considered the Browns best (only?) deep threat on the team. Last season, he broke out with 50 receptions for 805 yards and five touchdowns to lead Cleveland after being selected in the the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft.

According to Gordon, he could face up to a one-year suspension if he fails another drug test. He also acknowledged that he may not get another chance with any team if he messes up again, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Browns head coach Rod Chudzinski said that Gordon spent his suspension doing community service.

Despite his obvious talent, Gordon has been unable to stay on the field throughout his college and professional career due to off-field problems. At Baylor, he was arrested as a sophomore after being found asleep with marijuana in his car at a Taco Bell. Gordon was later suspended from the program indefinitely after testing positive for marijuana on a drug test.
