Maurice Jones-Drew has a tendon sprain in his ankle

Maurice Jones-Drew is once again dealing with a lower leg injury, this time it’s a tendon sprain in his ankle.

Maurice Jones-Drew left Sunday's game against Oakland in the first half and Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said a MRI revealed a tendon sprain in Jones-Drew's left ankle, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

Jones-Drew suffered the injury during the second quarter. His return was initially listed as probable before being downgraded to questionable. He didn’t return and after the game Bradley said Jones-Drew’s ankle was “a little loose.”

Lower leg injuries have been an issue for Jones-Drew recently. He missed 10 games last season due to a Lisfranc injury in his left foot. A timetable for his return from the ankle injury is still unknown, although Bradley said Jones-Drew felt better on Monday. Even still, he's likely questionable to play this week against the Seahawks.

The Jaguars struggled to run the ball with Jones-Drew, ranking 30th in the league with an average of 52.5 rushing yards per game. Jones-Drew gained 72 yards during the first two games, averaging 2.9 yards per carry. If the injury does cost him to miss time, Justin Forsett and Jordan Todman are likely to see an increase in playing time.
