Texans vs. Ravens: John Harbaugh expects Ed Reed to play

Reed’s old coach expects to see him on the field this Sunday.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh believes that Houston Texans safety Ed Reed will be on the field come Sunday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Harbaugh, who coached Reed in Baltimore from 2008 through 2013, is preparing to face a man who used to make his life much easier, per the piece:

“We’ll have to assume that he’s going to play,” Harbaugh said. “We’d be surprised if he didn’t play in this game, and we’ll have to assume that he’s going to play the way he’s played in the past.”

Reed has missed the first two games of the season with a hip injury, but has been progressing and looks like he might be ready to face his former team, which he won the Super Bowl with last season. As a member of the Ravens, Reed put together a Hall of Fame career, perhaps becoming the best ball-hawk in modern-day history.

In Baltimore, Reed racked up 61 interceptions, ranking him 10th all-time and as the leader of active players. The University of Miami product also scored seven touchdowns on defense while making the Pro Bowl nine times and being named a First-Team All-Pro on five occasions.
