Malcom Floyd injury: Chargers WR out ‘indefinitely’

San Diego’s top receiver is out for at least this week with a neck injury.

The San Diego Chargers will be without their best receiver for the foreseeable future, as Malcom Floyd has been ruled out for this week and is on the shelf 'indefinitely', according to Ian Rapoport.

Floyd will be in a neck brace for a minimum of a week before he gets evaluated once again. Philip Rivers' lanky receiver took a big hit on Sunday in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles and was sandwiched between two players with his head down. Floyd crumbled to the turf, had to be carted off the field and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Floyd has been seeking multiple opinions on his status, including a second opinion from spine specialist Robert Watkins.

This season, the 10-year veteran has six catches for 149 yards. Last year, Floyd amassed a career-high 56 catches for 814 yards and five touchdowns. In Floyd's absence, Vincent Brown and Keenan Allen will be counted on heavily.
