Jaguars hope Maurice Jones-Drew can play vs. Seahawks

Maurice Jones-Drew could possibly return to the Jaguars’ lineup just one week after suffering a tendon strain in his ankle.

The Jaguars are likely to be without starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert again in Week 3, but there is a sense of optimism when it comes to running back Maurice Jones-Drew's status for the game against the Seahawks in Seattle. According to the Florida Times Union, head coach Gus Bradley is optimistic about the Jaguars' top offensive weapon's availability for Sunday, despite suffering tendon strain in his ankle in Week 2 against the Raiders.

Before the injury occurred, Jones-Drew tallied 10 carries for 27 yards. When he left the game in the second quarter, third-year back Jordan Todman took on the bulk of the touches in the backfield and would likely start in place of injured star if Jones-Drew were to miss Sunday's matchup against Seattle.

Bradley hopes to know more about Jones-Drew status as the week progresses. “We’ll know a little more Wednesday, but on all accounts it looks pretty good,” Bradley said. “I know he felt good [Monday] morning, so that’s a positive sign. It’s a tendon strain, so good news for us.”

The Jaguars travel to Seattle in Week 3 to play the Seahawks on Sunday. The game can be seen on CBS at 4:25 p.m. ET.
