Giants vs. Panthers 2013 picks and predictions: Which team turns around their disappointing start first?

New York travels to Carolina in Week 3 in a battle of 0-2 teams that couldn’t imagine they’d be sitting in last place. Who are the experts picking?

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants have opened the season in disappointing fashion, not only be starting 0-2 but by allowing the most points in the NFL thus far. The Panthers don't have much more to be proud of, themselves. The two teams meet on Sunday, meaning one of them will almost certainly get a win while the other has some more explaining to do for their fans.

New York opened the year with a tough road loss to division rival Dallas and then Eli Manning lost to brother Peyton and the Broncos by a score of 41-23 on Sunday. The Giants have run the ball only 33 times all season, gaining only 73 yards on 2.2 yards per carry. Despite having four players with at least 100 yards receiving, and Manning passing for over 400 yards per game, the Giants will have to do more than that to beat the Panthers. Like not turning it over.

Manning has seven interceptions already this season.

The Panthers entered the season with playoff expectations, but fell to 0-2 after a last-second loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Despite this, six of eight experts at CBS Sports are picking the Giants to win at Carolina this weekend. John Breech was one of the experts that picked Carolina, with Will Brinson being the other. Things weren’t much different at ESPN, where 10 of their 14 experts went with the Giants. Two of three experts at Yahoo! Sports also went with New York.
