The Giants defense collapsed last week as the Denver Broncos rolled them, 41-23. The Broncos were 3.5 point favorites and had no trouble covering the spread. New York's running game is stuck in a rut--the Giants have just 73 rushing yards in two games, least in the league.
The Panthers have problems of their own. They gave up a last-second touchdown to the Buffalo Bills, losing 24-23 and failing to cover the -3.5 point spread. The secondary suffered yet more injuries as Charles Godfrey went down for the year with a torn Achilles. The front seven is still a talented unit, though, which spells even more trouble for New York's stagnant running game.
