NFL roundup: Trent Richardson trade about value, Andre Johnson most likely playing Week 3

It was a busy Wednesday for NFL news, even beyond the Trent Richardson trade.

Alex Trautwig

There was news on Wednesday, and then there was the Cleveland Browns trading Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a draft pick. The move, predictably, caught the entirety of the league and fans off guard and had the Cleveland faithful threatening to burn it all to the ground. Browns president Joe Banner said the deal was too good to pass up as the team looks towards the future. In case you were taking an ill-timed nap, here is the Trent Richardson StoryStream to catch you all the way up.

Andre Johnson likely to play in Week 3

The Houston Texans' passing game has been on fire this season, and if they want to beat the Ravens on the road they will probably need their star receiver to do so. Johnson was knocked out of Week 2 with a concussion, but will play against the Ravens, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.

Johnson has caught 20 passes for 222 yards for the Texans this season.

Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell back at practice

The Steelers desperately need some rushing help after averaging 37.5 yards per game on the ground through two games. Rookie running back Le'Veon Bell will be able to help out, eventually. Bell is nursing a sore foot, but doesn't want to rush it back out on to the field, he told Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporter Alan Robinson. Bell is still a ways off from completely rehabbing his injury and will stick with individual drills for the time being.

Eddie Lacy may play in Week 3

A little bit of news coming out of Packers camp, where during a press conference coach Mike McCarthy said that running back Eddie Lacy hasn't been ruled out of Week 3. The rookie left the game against the Redskins early in the first quarter with a concussion and didn't return. McCarthy said that Lacy has been progressing well and attending team meetings. Either way, McCarthy also said that even if Lacy suits up, James Starks will get the starting nod.

Panthers sign cornerback Drayton Florence

The Panthers re-signed veteran Drayton Florence after a rash of injuries to the secondary to open the season. Florence was part of the Panthers' final roster cuts, but quickly made it back onto the team with the thin secondary. Josh Thomas has a concussion, while Josh Norman and D.J. Moore are dealing with knee injuries. The Panthers haven't announced who is moving off the roster to make room for Florence.
