Indianapolis Colts rookie John Boyett is making an impact, but not in the right way. The sixth round safety was arrested Monday on charges of public intoxication and resisting a police officer.

The incident began at a downtown Indianapolis bar. Reports indicate that Boyett was denied entry to the establishment after being deemed by staff as “too intoxicated.” Police responded after Boyett refused to leave the bar. The report states that he verbally abused patrons and staff, before telling officers “You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player,” also indicating to an officer that he would return and “break (his) jaw.”
Boyett is currently on the Colts’ non-football injury list and the Indianapolis Star reports he sustained minor injuries to his arm and elbow in the confrontation with police. It’s alleged that the safety resisted arrest before running from officers and eventually being caught.
The Colts have not issued a statement on Boyett’s arrest at this time.
