Eddie Lacy injury: Packers RB misses practice Friday

James Starks will start for Green Bay in Week 3, whether Lacy can play or not.

Packers running back Eddie Lacy missed practice for the third straight day Friday, which puts his status into doubt for Green Bay's game against Cincinnati this weekend. Lacy suffered a concussion against Washington in Week 2 on a hit by safety Brandon Meriweather. The Washington safety earned a $42,000 fine for his efforts.

Lacy was making progress earlier in the week, according to Mike McCarthy, but the team has been preparing for his possible absence. James Starks, who was named the Week 3 starter by McCarthy on Wednesday, got the bulk of the work after Lacy went down against the Redskins and acquitted himself well. He ran for 132 yards and a score on 20 carries while adding four receptions for 36 yards.

Lacy, a rookie out of Alabama, was making his second career start and suffered the concussion on his first carry of the Washington game. He ran the ball 14 times for 41 yards in Green Bay’s season-opener and has carried the ball 15 times for 51 yards on the season so far.
