Reggie Bush injury: Lions could hold RB out Week 3

The Lions running back may be held out of Sunday’s game against the Redskins as a precautionary measure.

Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush might not play on Sunday against the Washington Redskins despite his optimism, according to a report from Pro Football Talk.

Bush was injured in last week's 25-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals when he took a helmet to the knee in the second quarter, and did not return to the game after putting up 25 yards on nine carries. The veteran running back was optimistic about his ability to play on Sunday, participating in practice on Friday with a sleeve on the knee and telling the media he felt better than expected.

Per Mike Florio, the Lions might think otherwise. The team listed Bush as questionable for Sunday’s game, yet are reportedly likely to decide to play it safe with Bush’s knee and sit him out for at least a game to ensure his health for the long run.

Bush was electric in a Week 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings, putting up 191 yards from scrimmage while catching a 77-yard touchdown pass.
