Ray Rice injury: Ravens star out for at least 2 weeks, per report

Baltimore’s star running back could miss multiple games with the injury sustained in Week 2, per a report.

Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice will miss two weeks with a hip flexor strain, according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun. Rice sustained the injury in the second half against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, going down without contact before limping to the sidelines.

Rice did not return to the game. He was recently downgraded to doubtful on the team's official injury report heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Houston Texans. Head coach John Harbaugh described Rice as "day-to-day" earlier in the week. He did not practice this week.

This would make Bernard Pierce the starting running back on Sunday and, if the report is right, Sept. 29's Week 4 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Pierce has more yards than Rice on the season, carrying the ball 28 times for 79 yards with a touchdown. Rice has 25 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown as well.

Houston has allowed an average of 99.5 rushing yards through the first two games, so Pierce could have a big day in relief of Rice.
