The San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts will square off at Candlestick Park on Sunday afternoon, both looking to rebound from tough defeats.
San Francisco is one of the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl this year, but took a brutal 29-3 beating at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. The 49ers also lost Ian Williams for the season in that game due to a broken ankle.
The Colts are also looking to avoid a two-game losing streak after being upended by a solid Miami Dolphins team at home. Indianapolis made a huge move this week, trading for Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson in exchange for its first-round pick next year. Richardson will bolster a rushing attack that was in bad shape following the loss of Vick Ballard to a season-ending torn ACL.
This matchup also pits former Stanford teammates against one another, with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh facing former pupil Andrew Luck.
