The New England Patriots had another up-and-down game Sunday, but it was more than enough to put away the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-3.
Buccaneers vs. Patriots 2013 game recap: Bucs offense sputters in 23-3 loss
Josh Freeman is on ever-thinner ice after another poor performance. The Patriots defeated the Bucs, 23-3.
Tom Brady struggled against the Bucs defense, but once again Josh Freeman was incapable of moving the ball. The Bucs managed just three points in the first half while Brady hooked up with Kenbrell Thompkins twice to take a 14-3 halftime lead.
Scoring was quiet in the second half, although Brady threw a rare interception in the red zone.
Freeman had another miserable performance, completing just 19-of-41 passes for 236 yards and an interception. At one point, rookie Mike Glennon was spotted warming up on the sideline, although he did not enter the game. That time may come sooner than later if Freeman continues to squander strong defensive efforts.
Fantasy studs and duds
Thompkins rewarded patient fantasy owners with the two touchdowns and finished with three catches for 41 yards. Julian Edelman had a typical PPR statline: seven catches for 44 yards.
Injury report
Wide receiver Vincent Jackson went down with bruised ribs and left the game. He is done for the day.
Did they cover?
The Patriots opened as seven point favorites and were able to cover by a wide margin.
