Packers vs. Bengals 2013 results: Bengals mount huge comeback, beat Packers, 34-30

The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Green Bay Packers, 34-30, in a dramatic back-and-forth thriller. They improve to 2-1 on the season. They are the first team ever to win after leading by 14, then trailing by 16 points.

The Bengals jumped out to an early lead thanks to a special teams gaffe by Green Bay. After a Giovani Bernard touchdown, the Packers fumbled away the ensuing kickoff at the 2-yard line. BenJarvus Green-Ellis made them pay, pounding it in to give the Bengals a 14-0 lead.

The Packers recovered, taking advantage of Bengals turnovers. M.D. Jennings took a fumble recovery 24 yards for a score to get the Packers back in the game. The Bengals couldn't get out of their own way, committing four turnovers on consecutive drives. Green Bay took the halftime lead, 16-14, after a last-second field goal.

Green Bay's running suffered another blow when James Starks left the game with an injury. Johnathan Franklin is the only other active back. Franklin stepped up and got his first career touchdown to extend the Packers' lead. The Packers continued to pour it on in the second half, going up 30-14, but the Bengals came back. Touchdowns by A.J. Green and Marvin Jones cut the deficit to three points, but Mike Nugent missed an extra point.

The Bengals completed the comeback thanks to yet another turnover. Franklin lost the ball during a fourth-and-short attempt, Terence Newman picked it up and went 58 yards to the house. The Bengals took a 34-30 lead after scoring 20 unanswered points. Green Bay's last-second drive failed, preserving the win for Cincinnati.

Tight end Jermichael Finley left the game with a concussion and did not return. James Starks left with a knee injury and was questionable to return. Clay Matthews also left the game and did not return.
