Reggie Bush injury: Lions RB guarantees he will play next week

A knee injury forced Bush to miss Week 3, but he is extremely confident that he won’t miss any more time than that.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Lions running back Reggie Bush (knee) was inactive for Detroit's 27-20 win over the Redskins on Sunday, but Kyle Meinke says that Bush "guaranteed" to him that he will play in Week 4.

Bush is in his first season with Detroit, but got off to a big start by putting up 191 total yards and a touchdown in the Lion's 34-24 win over the Vikings in Week 1. He followed that up with 69 total yards against the Cardinals, but left the game early due to a knee injury and Detroit eventually lost 25-21.

After two mostly-successful seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Bush flew under the radar as a free agent this offseason before the Lions inked him to a 4-year, $16 million contract. That could be a steal if Bush continues to produce at the level he did in Week 1, but he will need to remain healthy and productive over the rest of the season. Especially if Jim Schwartz hopes to see Detroit return to the playoffs after a 4-12 record last year.

At the moment, Bush is only guaranteeing that he will play next week. That won’t hurt.
