C.J. Spiller injury: Bills RB out after hurting knee vs. Jets

The Buffalo Bills running back went to the locker room after injuring himself during a rough outing against the Jets.

Running back C.J. Spiller left in the second half of the Buffalo Bills' game against the New York Jets with a knee injury and won't return, the team announced. Spiller had rushed 10 times for nine yards before being escorted to the locker room. He was initially ruled as questionable to return.

Buffalo Rumblings: More on the Bills

Fellow Bills running back Fred Jackson has been much more successful Sunday against New York. The veteran has rushed eight times for 77 yards, a 9.6 yards per carry average, through more than three quarters.

Spiller, a fourth-year running back out of Clemson, had 33 carries for 144 yards through the first two games this year and is coming off his most successful NFL season, rushing 207 times for 1,244 yards in 2012. Injuries haven’t been enough to keep Spiller off the field thus far in his career. After playing in 14 games as a rookie, Spiller played in all 16 games for the Bills in the last two years.
