The Cowboys brought out their offensive best in a 31-7 blow out win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The Week 3 matchup was seemed to be over by the end of the first half, as Tony Romo and the Cowboys continued to gain ground over the young Rams. Dallas was up 17-0 going into halftime and featured an well-balanced attacked that included 175 rushing yards and a touchdown from DeMarco Murray. Romo was also terrific as he went 17 of 24 for 210 passing yards and three touchdowns.

The Rams failed to put up points and sustain drives against the Cowboys defense. The St. Louis offense produced just 35 rushing yards against Dallas. St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford did not turn the ball over but only connected on 29-of-48 passes for 240 passing yards and just one touchdown. The Rams defense also only got to the quarterback for one sack and struggled to collect turnovers.
Tom Ryle of Blogging the Boys is encouraged by the Cowboys’ performance this season compared to last year’s up-and-down squad:
Is this a different team in 2013? Well, already the team has managed at least two things it never did last year. In both of the victories so far, the Cowboys have never trailed. And against a St. Louis Rams team that looks to be improved over last year, when they were 7-8-1, the Cowboys got a team down, kept them down, and stomped them where it makes your voice go up an octave or two.
Brandon Birkhead of Turf Show Times believes the Rams have not improved enough to avoid repeating their past mistakes:
For the third week in a row, the Rams were annihilated in the first half. Unlike the previous two weeks, the Rams didn’t rebound in the second half. The Rams were a mess the entire contest. The team looked shockingly similar to the 2007-2009 version.
The Rams defense was horrible in the first half. The Cowboys didn’t have a 100 yard runner in 17 games prior to today, and the Rams almost allowed DeMarco Murray that in the first half. Couldn’t stop the run. Couldn’t stop the pass. Pathetic.
The Rams will have a short week as St. Louis will host the 49ers on Thursday Night Football, while the Cowboys will host to the Chargers in Week 4.
