Ed Reed injury update: Texans safety ‘felt good’ in season debut

Texans’ safety Ed Reed seems to have recovered enough from hip surgery to produce for Houston.

Veteran safety Ed Reed enjoyed his Texans' debut in Week 3, despite a 30-9 loss to his former team on Sunday. The former Pro Bowler told his team's website he felt "good" on the field with his new teammates against the Ravens.

Reed had been rehabbing all off-season following hip surgery this summer. He missed the first two games of the season, but was able to return to Baltimore. Still, Reed believes he could have played in Week 2.

“I wanted to play last week, because I didn’t want this to be my first game,” said Reed. “I came here [Houston] to give my heart to this organization, to this city, and I will do that, and I will get interceptions. But the ball really didn’t come my way today. But at the end of the day, I felt good.”

The former first-round pick was able to notch three tackles in his season debut and head coach Gary Kubiak felt he moved well on the field.

“I’ll have to go back and watch the film; obviously it looked like he moved ok,” Kubiak said. “I know there was a point when we said that’s enough, so we’ll go back and look at it and hopefully he came out clean. If he’s not too sore tomorrow, we’ll move on to next week.”

Reed and the Texans will host the Seahawks in Week 4 on FOX at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
