Sean Payton denies Mark Ingram trade rumors

Saints’ running back Mark Ingram is not going anywhere, according to his head coach.

Rob Foldy-USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is not seeking a trade, head coach Sean Payton told the The Times-Picayune, despite speculation to the contrary.

The Saints have five running backs on their roster, leading to limited carries for Ingram. On Sunday, CBS's Jason La Canfora speculated that Ingram could be the next first-round pick to be shopped before the end of his rookie deal. With players like A.J. Jenkins, Trent Richardson and Jon Baldwin all being dealt in the last few weeks, a move of Ingram would not be out of the ordinary.

Payton called reports of a possible Ingram deal "completely false" and said they had "zero credibility." Ingram has just 17 carries for 31 yards in two games this season. He missed the Saints' Week 3 matchup against the Cardinals due to a toe injury.
