Arizona Cardinals linebackers Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander are out for the season after being placed on injured reserve Monday, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site. Acho injured his ankle during Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. Alexander had to be carted off the field in the same game after suffering an injury to his right foot.
Cardinals place Sam Acho, Lorenzo Alexander on injured reserve
The Cardinals’ linebacker corps took a heavy blow Monday. Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander have been placed on injured reserve due to leg injuries, leaving the Cards scrambling for starters.

Both injuries compound what was a bad day for the Cardinals' defense Sunday. Drew Brees carved the secondary for 342 and three touchdowns on 29-for-46 passing, and the team had 104 yards on the ground to give the Saints 423 total yards against a defense that had performed very well through the first two weeks of the season. Acho and Alexander weren't the only Cardinals injuries on the day, either. Safety Rashad Johnson lost part of his finger in his glove, and is day-to-day according to Urban.
The loss of Acho and Alexander leave the Cardinals scrambling to find new starters, especially with Daryl Washington still waiting to come back from suspension. Veteran John Abraham will have to play a much heavier role than the Cardinals may have expected when they signed him during the offseason, and rookies Alex Okafor and Kevin Minter should also see extensive snaps.
