NFL news roundup: Adam Jones arrested, Steven Jackson out until Week 7

Another arrest for Adam “Pacman” Jones and a hamstring injury for Steven Jackson are just some of the news you may have missed on Monday.

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The up-and-down NFL career of Adam "Pacman" Jones received another bump in the road on Monday, as the Cincinnati Bengals cornerback was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Jones, 29, has been arrested at least eight times during his NFL career, including a recent incident in June that earned him assault charges. According to the State Highway Patrol, Jones was the passenger in a car and “made offensive comments while drunk during a traffic stop.“ The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Here is some other news from around the NFL that you may have missed on Monday:

Steven Jackson out three to four weeks

The upper leg injury that kept Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson out of the lineup in Week 3 could keep him out for an extended period of time, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

Originally reported as a thigh injury, Jackson actually might have a hamstring issue that could keep him out for the next three to four weeks. That would keep him out of the lineup until at least Week 7 and leave the Falcons relying on Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers to keep the running game going for Atlanta.

Dolphins, Chiefs, Panthers bring in groups for try outs

Several NFL teams brought in large groups of players on a try out basis on Tuesday morning and Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun was on top of all of it.

Chris Ivory could miss extended time

The New York Jets had to find success running the ball without Chris Ivory after he left the team's Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills, and they'll likely have to continue to do so after the former New Orleans Saints running back re-injured a hamstring that caused him problems in training camp.

The prognosis from ESPN's Rich Cimini didn't sound too positive as the Jets are reportedly "not expecting a quick rebound" for Ivory. Instead they'll have to rely on Bilal Powell, who had a career game in Ivory's absence, racking up 149 yards rushing on 27 carries in Week 3.

Mario Williams expects to play in Week 4

The Buffalo Bills face the defending Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, and they hope to have defensive end Mario Williams there to help the team pressure Joe Flacco. Williams had to leave in the fourth quarter of the Bills' loss to the New York Jets in Week 3, but X-rays showed no breaks in his ankle.

Williams was unable to record sacks in Weeks 1 or 3, but exploded for 4.5 sacks in Week 2. While an ankle injury will make another huge day a tall task, Williams expects to be able to play barring any setbacks.
