Henry Hynoski injury: Giants FB could be out for the year

A fractured shoulder may cost Hynoski the rest of the 2013 season.

The Star-Ledger-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants may be forced to play the rest of the season without Henry Hynoski. The fullback suffered a fractured shoulder in Week 3 and the injury could be season-ending, according to Connor Orr of the Star-Ledger.

The 24-year-old fullback left Sunday's game against the Panthers early in the first quarter and was ruled out after a X-ray revealed a fractured shoulder. Following the game, Hynoski said he was unsure how long the injury would keep him out and the plan was to have more tests done on Monday. If the injury is significant enough to cause Hynoski to miss several weeks, the Giants may decide to place him on injured reserve instead of carrying him on the active roster.

Hynoski's absence will only make it more difficult for New York to jumstart its struggling running game. The Giants are last in the league in rushing through three games. Backup tight end Bear Pascoe filled in for Hynoski at fullback on Sunday and will likely see more playing time as a lead blocker going forward. Tight end Larry Donnell would then shift from third-string to New York's No. 2 behind Brandon Myers
