Cowboys G Brian Waters expects to start, play entire game vs. Chargers

Cowboys’ guard Brian Waters hopes to see extended playing time in their Week 4 matchup against the Chargers.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys' right guard Brian Waters hopes to play a full game for the first time this season against the Chargers, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. Waters was brought out of retirement by the Cowboys in August and has not played a full game since 2011.

The veteran has been eased into the lineup over the last two games, rotating with Mackenzy Bernadeau at right guard as he re-adjusts to the NFL. However, Waters' third game may feature first full-time action of the season, per the Morning News:

“That’s the goal, to try to make it through the whole game,” said Waters [...]. “We’ll see how it goes. Mack (Bernadeau) will be ready to go. I think we’re all confident he’ll be ready to go if anything happens.”

The 36-year-old played 12 seasons with the Chiefs and Patriots before deciding leave the NFL in the summer of 2012. He is a two-time All-Pro and an eight-time Pro Bowler.

The Cowboys will travel to San Diego to face the Chargers on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
