Denard Robinson now listed as WR by Jaguars

Despite not recording a catch yet this year, Jacksonville is set to make the move from “offensive weapon” to “wide receiver” full time.

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars' Denard Robinson made some headlines this year when the team listed him as an "OW," standing for "Offensive Weapon." After five carries for minus-1 yard and no catches through three games, they appear set to remove that label and have officially listed Robinson as simply a "WR," according to the Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran.

Robinson was a quarterback at Michigan but really only taken seriously in the NFL as a wide receiver or running back, because his athletic ability was off the charts. Jacksonville took Robinson in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft after he ran a 4.34 40-yard dash at the combine, but he has not yet made an impact for the struggling 0-3 Jaguars.

In addition to his numbers on offense, he has two kick returns for a total of 54 yards.

The Jaguars are last in the NFL in scoring, though receiver Cecil Shorts III has 19 catches for 276 yards and they have yet to play this year with the suspended Justin Blackmon. Robinson's longest run of the year is 1 yard and even though he has yet to make a reception, it looks like Jacksonville is going to go with him full-time at receiver.

Whether or not that helps the Jags win any games this year remains to be seen.
