Rams prepared to re-do Sam Bradford’s contract

Sam Bradford has the full support of the Rams’ front office with two years still left to go on his rookie contract.

The St. Louis Rams are reportedly ready to discuss a contract extension with Sam Bradford, if the quarterback is ready to approach the team. Ian Rapoport and Mike Silver of NFL.com spoke with Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, general manager Les Snead and president Kevin Demoff, and all three men reiterated their confidence in Bradford as the franchise's long-term future at quarterback. Via NFL.com:

“We have decided that Sam Bradford is our guy. If they came to us and wanted to do a contract extension right now, we’d do it in a minute,” Demoff told Silver.

Bradford, the No. 1 overall pick in 2010, is under contract until 2015 with $27 million due to him over the next two years, so there’s no pressure on the organization or the quarterback to get a deal done quickly. Still, Bradford no doubt appreciates the vote of confidence. Bradford has played well since taking over as the Rams’ starting quarterback, but he hasn’t lived up to the superstar expectations of a top draft pick.

Bradford has improved each season has played, however. Last season he went 328-for-551 passing (59.5 percent) for a career-high 3,702 yards and 21 touchdowns, with 13 interceptions. He is off to a good start through three games this season, going 88-for-141 (62.4 percent) for 891 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.
