49ers vs. Rams: Anquan Boldin the difference as San Francisco leads 14-3 at halftime

The 49ers’ offense has rebounded from some weak outings to lead at halftime in St. Louis.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers lead the St. Louis Rams, 14-3, heading into halftime of Thursday night's game. Anquan Boldin has been the difference so far, with his 20-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter putting the team ahead.

Boldin has been targeted on five of Kaepernick's passing attempts on the night, catching three passes for 69 yards. He looks more like the player who dominated the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 than the one who had relatively quiet outings the last two weeks. Ditto Kaepernick, who is 8-for-12 passing for 104 yards and a score, although he has yet to gain any yards on the ground.

The 49ers are outgaining the Rams, 201-143, so far. Of those 201 yards, 160 came on the 49ers' final two drives of the half, both of which went for touchdowns. On their second scoring drive, the 49ers took over the ball with 3:56 remaining and went 80 yards in 3:19 to find the end zone. Frank Gore reeled off a 34-yard touchdown running off tackle to put the 49ers up by double digits.

The Rams have not been able to sustain a drive longer than 46 yards. They got down to the San Francisco 34 in the second quarter, but Sam Bradford threw a 3rd-and-1 interception to Donte Whitner in the end zone on a pass intended for tight end Jared Cook to set up the Niners' second scoring drive. Bradford is 11-for-19 passing for 138 yards and a pick on the night.
