St. Louis Rams rookie T.J. McDonald left Thursday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers with a leg injury, which later was reported as being a fracture according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

McDonald was playing near the line of scrimmage when it appears his leg gave way. He remained on the field for several minutes before being placed in a cast and carted off the field for further evaluation.

The rookie out of USC and son of former safety Tim McDonald was selected in the third round of April’s draft. He has started all four games for the Rams in 2013, recording 15 tackles and two passes defended.

St. Louis elected to part ways with veteran safety Quintin Mikell this offseason, leaving Matt Giordano to play in McDonald's absence. Giordano has played for five teams in his nine-year career, recording a total of 208 tackles and 10 interceptions.
