The St. Louis Rams defense was pummeled on the ground during Thursday night's ugly 35-11 loss to the San Francisco, getting routinely manhandled along the line and surrendering a galling 219 rushing yards.
Chris Long calls Rams defense ‘disgusting’

The beat down left a unit that was supposed to be the strength of one of the league's brightest up-and-coming teams frustrated and deflated, and, according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, left star defensive end Chris Long sick to his stomach.
“It’s disgusting. It really is,” Long told reporters. “That’s not who we are, but if we keep playing like that, that will be who we are. When you give up that many yards in the ground game it’s a lot of things going wrong. We have a lot of things to correct.”
The Rams were supposed to challenge division heavy weights San Francisco and the Seattle in the NFC West division, but have now lost three straight and look to be reeling, particularly in run defense.
Frank Gore had his way against the Rams front seven all night, finishing with 153 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
They now rank 29th in the league in run defense, allowing 133.5 yards per game.
