Robert Griffin III’s 1st half struggles continue vs. Raiders

The Redskins’ star QB has been uncharacteristically sluggish to start games this year, and that continued in Oakland in Week 4.

Robert Griffin III is trying to avoid an 0-4 start for the Washington Redskins, but finds himself down four points at halftime in Oakland.

Griffin III’s normally accurate passing has not been on display in Oakland. In the first half he completed 56 percent of his throws, below his career 65 percent average -- though part of this is due to throwaways, as he has been under pressure for much of the game. He attempted 18 passes in the first half, throwing for 117 yards. This is a shift from how RGIII played during his rookie season, when he attempted 30 or more passes on just four occasions.

There has also been a distinct lack of running attempts for the quarterback this season, which could be a byproduct of his ACL injury sustained last year. He carried the ball once in the first half, gaining a single yard. He’s on pace for just 64 carries, almost half as often as he ran in 2012.
