Jake Locker injury: Titans QB to hospital following X-rays

The Titans may have suffered a serious injury to their offense’s leader in Week 4.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Titans quarterback Jake Locker has been admitted to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital following a hip injury that was suffered during Tennessee's win against the Jets, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. He will receive further evaluation and will not just be released after treatment, per Wyatt.

Locker’s father told offensive coordinator Dowell Loggins that his son is handling the injury well, according to Wyatt. Locker went down in the third quarter after being hit hard by the Jets’ Muhammad Wilkerson. The blow was delivered by Wilkerson’s helmet to Locker’s chest and the quarterback fell awkwardly to the ground. The Titans’ training staff quickly called for the cart after an initial evaluation of the third-year player. He was carted off the field to cheers as he gave the crowd a “thumbs up” as he exited the stadium.

Locker was having a career-game before he was injured, connecting on 18 of 24 passes for 149 yards and three passing touchdowns while the Titans were leading 24-6. His backup, veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, came into the game and preserved the lead for the Titans, who defeated the Jets with the score of 38-13.
