Hopkins played well before suffering the concussion in the second game of the preseason against the Miami Dolphins. The receiver suffered the injury after striking his head on the ground during a play. He's been held out of every preseason game since then, as per the NFL's rules regarding concussions and head injuries in general.
He finished his preseason with 74 yards on six catches and a touchdown. Houston has Andre Johnson as its starting receiver, but Matt Schaub was expected to target Hopkins early and often as the No. 2 receiver.
Hopkins was the team's first-round draft pick out of Clemson. There's not a whole lot at the receiver position behind Hopkins, so getting him back is a good sign, though he might be the third receiving option behind tight end Owen Daniels, at least initially.
