Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd will "probably" miss time in the regular season with plantar fasciitis, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. According to Rapoport, Byrd also dealt with the injury over the course of last season, but took shots to be able to play through the injury.

Any time spent without Byrd is a bad sign for the Bills. Byrd was one of the absolute best safeties in the NFL last season. He was absolutely solid in pass coverage and great against the run last year. He managed 53 tackles and 23 assists, with four forced fumbles and five interceptions last season. He also had six pass deflections.
Byrd and the Bills went through a contract dispute this offseason. Byrd wanted a long-term deal, but giving him such a deal would have required giving him top-flight safety money. Instead, the Bills used the franchise tag, which will pay Byrd $6.9 million this season. He’s unhappy about it as well, having only recently signed and begun taking part in practice.
